Welcome to Troy’s California Trail Runs website. Our mission is to provide some of the most scenic, challenging, and fun runs in California. We want to provide an environment that is both safe and enjoyable. We are a patriotic and green company. We believe in a clean environment and want all of our participants to be responsible when it comes to keeping all of our trails pristine and litter free.
Important Note: For everyone's safety, if runners drop they need to inform us ASAP before leaving the Race/Event.
We have two signup websites. If you experience any difficulties signing up for one of our events, please contact the service to address the issues. Here are the web site links: Eventbrite and Active.com.
We are a family oriented organization. Our runs will be setup for every age group. Some runs will be designed only for adults and others we would like to have just for children. However, everyone is invited to participate. We will have runs for beginners, intermediate runners and finally the hard core advanced Ultra-Runner.

95% single track 5% dirt road. The course is primarily run on the South Side Trail. All very appealing single track, great running, some technical sections. Gentle rolling hills in El Dorado Hills, trail parallels Folsom Lake, oak trees, lush green grass, nice scenery, views of Folsom Lake, surrounding foothills and some views of the Sierras. 10k, 21 miler out and back. 50k at Salmon Falls aid station does a clockwise loop returning to he South Side Trail. 38 milers at Salmon Falls aid station continue East to the Sweetwater Trail & turnaround at the SRA aid station and return to Salmon Falls aid station looping around back to the South Side Trail returning to the finish.

This run is in Sanborn Park situated in the hills above Saratoga. Course description, 95% single track, extremely mountainess, very technical, lushly wooded, mixed evergreen forest, featuring Redwood, Douglass Fir, Oak Madrone, and Tanbark Oak. Aid stations: 2 fully stocked aid stations and a water station for the 9 and 13.1 runs. Two aid stations for the 4.2 mile run.
Trail Briefing: The course will be marked with ribbons on clothes pins. Signs 8x11 on 3ft wooden stakes with distances and direction arrows. Gypsum, white chalk, on the ground showing direction arrows and distances.
13.1 & 9.0Mi follow Pink Ribbons and Signs. At approx. 2.5 miles you split from the 4.2 milers continue up, veer right follow Signs and Pink Ribbons. You will pass through 2 water stops before reaching your 1st aid station.
13.1 milers after passing through your 1st aid station at Skyline Trail you will run 1.5 miles, run through a parking lot; be prepared to turn around at paved road. Do not cross over the paved road. I will have signs posted 13.1 Turn around and a person telling you to turn around. Continue to follow signs and ribbons.
9.0 milers Out and back, follow Pink Ribbons and Signs on clothes pins. At the 1st aid station at Skyline Trail turn around and come back on the exact course following the pink ribbons down.
4.2 milers Follow a counter clockwise loop marked by Orange Ribbons
and Signs. Split at approx. 2.5 miles continue to follow Orange Ribbons
only and 4.2Mi Signs to Finish.

13.1 miles 50% dirt roads, 50% single track, very hilly, awesome country, challenging with technical sections and rocky sections; covers most of the park; 4 aid stations.
10k 75% dirt roads, 25% single track; very hilly, steep climbs, tough course, lots of great runnable sections, very enjoyable, 3 Aid stations.

Directions: Santa Teresa County Park is located at the southern end of the Santa Teresa Hills. From Santa Clara Valley, take US 101 or Highway 85 to the Bernal Road exit. Proceed west 1.3 miles on Bernal Road and cross Santa Teresa Boulevard toward the Santa Teresa Hills. Bernal Road continues past the park's Santa Teresa Golf Club, winding up into the hills. The Pueblo Day Use Area is located off Bernal Road in a small open valley in the hills.The Ranger Station for Santa Teresa County Park is located at Hellyer County Park (408) 225-0225.
Parking: There is a $6 parking fee per car. The parking lot opens at 8:00 am.

Run in the shadow of Mt. Umunhum with the deer and a few of your favorite running pals. Set in the Sierra Azul Open Space Preserve, this one of a kind non-timed running event provides unique access to gorgeous trails and scenery not commonly viewed. 100% trail/fire road. One of the toughest runs out there, this 50K challenge course has plenty of steep climbs and exposure to make sure you get a fantastic workout. The 50k course covers the entire park. You will not be disappointed.
Course: The courses are out and back along Woods Trail from the Start/Finish line at the Hicks Road intersection. See the course maps on the mileage buttons above. 50k runners when they exit Lexington County Park onto Alma Bridge Road must run only on the shoulder or dirt and must stay off the road at all times until entering Sierra Azul Park.
Aid: Four fully stocked aid stations located at the course turnarounds.
Directions: Sierra Azul Mt. Umunhum area is located off of Hicks Road. Exit Highway 85 at Camden Ave. (From southbound 85 turn left on Camden Ave. From northbound 85 turn left on Branham Avenue and then turn left on Camden Ave.) Travel on Camden Ave. about 1.6 miles. Turn right on Hicks Road. Venture church parking lot will be on the right side of the road.
Parking: The Woods parking lot is fully booked. Runners with reserved parking are being notified by email.
There will be a shuttle service from the lower parking lot of Venture Christian Church located at 16845 Hicks Road in Los Gatos (map). There is a $10 fee for the shuttle that is not covered in the entry fee for the runners. We encourage you to provide exact change for the shuttle fee.
The first shuttle leaves at 6:30am and the last shuttle leaves at 8:15am. Please arrive early so we may start the event on time. 50K and 18.8M runnres will have priority on early shuttles.
No restrooms will be available at Venture Christian Church. There will be two portable toilets at the Start/Finish. We greatly appreciate your understanding and cooperation in dealing with this event.
Pick Up/Drop Off: Although spectators and friends may pick up/drop off runners at the trailhead, spectators may not park at either Woods or Sierra Azul lot to wait for runners. Thank you!
Entry Fees: $65 for the 50k, $55 for the 18.8 miles, $50 for the Half Marathon, $45 for the 10k, $40 for the 5k. Entry fees are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled. Maximum of 130 participants allowed so register early. This Midpeninsula Open Space area is fragile so the park service has requested that runners minimize impact by running in small groups. Please allow no more than two runners abreast on the trail. Follow proper trail etiquette at all times. See this link for information on common trail etiquette. 50k runners when exiting Lexington County Park please stay on the shoulder of Alma Bridge Road until entering onto the trail into Sierra Azul Park.

Crew Info: If a family or crew would like to follow their runner, they can do so only at the Kennedy aid station. Estimated time for a very fast runners arrival at the Kennedy aid station is 10:30 am which is 1.5 hours running time.
Directions/Parking/Concerns/Conduct Crew directions to the Kennedy aid station. Leaving the start and finish at Hicks Road and Mt Umunhum. Drive North on Hicks Road towards Venture Christian Church, on Camden past Guadalupe reservoir. Turn left onto Shannon Road. Turn left onto Kennedy Road. You will drive up to the top and the Park will be on the left. Please park directly across from the park´s entrance on the residential street. Please obey all parking signs and be especially respectful of the neighborhood we are impacting. Your runner will only utilize this aid station once. Thanks all. Please drive safely.

The race is starting at Clay St on the Placerville El Dorado Trail 0.5 miles West of Placerville Station and finishing at the El Dorado Trail head at Mosquito Road directly across from the Placerville Station. The morning of the event, runners will assemble at Placerville Station then Troy will walk them the 0.5 miles to the start. The runners will run East up the historic El Dorado Trail, across Mosquito Road onto the El Dorado Trail to the Placerville bike path, then run the El Dorado Trail out and back. All runners must check in at the Placerville Station the morning of the race. All races will finish 20 yards East of (before) Mosquito Road.
There will be 5 aid stations.

Runners will start at the trail head at Mosquito Road. All paved, some shade, exposure, beautiful setting, exciting course,fun and rewarding.

The runners will start at the trail head at Mosquito Road. All paved, mostly shaded, beautiful trees, gradual climb to turn around all downhill to the finish. Covers most of the park.

Directions: Drivers traveling West on Hwy 50, turn off at exit 47 take immediate right at Mosquito Rd. Race parking is on the left at the yellow building, the Placerville Station. Trail Briefing: The Placerville El Dorado Trail course will be marked with ribbons on clothes pins, 8x11 signs with distances and direction arrows. Trail briefing at 8:10 for all runners. Check in from 7:30 am. Race day registration is available. T-shirts and bibs are handed out on Race Day. There are different color bibs for each distance.

Directions: The park is located off McKean Rd. 3.5 miles south of Harry Rd. on the right past Calero reservoir on Casa Loma Road. Traveling to the park, from central San Jose, take Almaden Expressway south. Turn right onto Harry Rd., then left onto McKean Rd. Traveling to the park from 101, exit Bailey Ave. and head west until you reach McKean Rd. Turn left onto McKean Rd. Calero Parking Lot is half a mile on the right side. Click here for a local map
Parking: Currently we are not anticipating the need for overflow parking. In the unlikely event that the overflow is needed, we will post parking instructions. We have made arrangements for runners to be able to park at a lot 1/4 mile past main paved parking lot on the left (40 car limit).

For fabulous trail running at a Higher Level check out this Event in El Dorado County. The course is 75% single track, 20% dirt road, 5% pavement. TCTRuns takes you to awesome high elevation in the Sierra where you can experience beautiful trails and spectacular views, plenty of sections for easy passing of runners. All sections very runnable, some technical, tough sections with very steep, rocky terrain. This is an extremely rewarding and challenging course. Always be prepared for rain, thundershowers and bring gear. Temperatures could be cool in the morning. ATTENTION it will be dark until start of event. Event will start at first light.
Race Day Registration: Registration Table in parking lot at Adventure Mountain Lake Tahoe.
Pick up bib, pins, and t-shirt.
Pre-Race Briefing and Late Registration: On Friday, August 10, 2012: 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm, the day before the event, late race-registration will be available at Strawberry Lodge. A race briefing will be held at 6:00 pm. A pre-race dinner is also available for additional cost at 6:30 pm. Early reservations recommended.
Aid: Three fully stocked aid stations. Bathroom and water out on course located at Lovers Leap Campground. Mornings are cold, drop extra layers at first aid station: Sierra at Tahoe Road. Clothes will be returned to start at equipment drop off point.
Directions: Race Central is at Strawberry Lodge
, Kyburz, CA and the race starts at the Lake Tahoe Winter Experience Parking lot located
here. From Strawberry Lodge or Lovers Leap Campground take Highway 50 East approximately 15 minutes, 8.4 miles East from Strawberry Lodge. At Echo Summit
turn right, into Adventure Mountain Lake Tahoe parking lot.
The entrance has a large sign: Adventure Mountain Lake Tahoe. Under that the sign says: Visitors Center. Under that the sign says: sledding. And finally: El Dorado National Park Permits. .
The event starts/finishes from the parking lot.
If you are coming from the "Sierra at Tahoe" ski resort, take "Sierra at Tahoe" Rd to Hwy 50, turn right continue to drive East 2.8 miles to the Adventure Mountain Lake Tahoe aka (Lake Tahoe Winter Experience) parking lot. Find Start and Finish area in the parking lot. For travel on
Highway 50 West, drive until reaching Echo Summit. Turn left into Adventure Mountain Lake Tahoe aka (Lake Tahoe Winter Experience) parking lot. Trail. Event starts from the parking lot.
Parking: Carpooling is encouraged. There is a $6 parking fee per car. Please have exact change! Overnight RV parking is available for a fee of $10 per car. Please make reservations ASAP prior to Event. NO RV hookups but, there are bathrooms available that night. The parking lot opens at 5:00 am.

Crew Directions: continue up Sierra at Tahoe Rd 1/2 mile Bryan Rd will be on your right. Aid station 2 is located 1.5 miles down the dirt road. This dirt road is in good condition and can be driven by all vehicles. 3.42 mile tract/Packsaddle Pass Rd paved roads. 11N19 is a dirt road off of Packsaddle Pass Rd on the Left Aid station 3 is located a 1/4 mile onto 11N19 driving East (Crew access allowed)

Runner Info: Cell phone reception is very good along the 20 mile course for the runners/crews. The 10 mile loop (Bryan Meadow) 50 mile/50k runners there is NO cell phone reception. Please be prepared for Thunder storms. Rain gear/dry clothing/shoes recommended. These items can be delivered to aid station 2. I have completed my trail work raking the entire course & clearing the trail so you may have a safer & faster run. We suggest you put on mosquito repellent after arriving at the race ASAP.
There is a 13 and ½ hour cut-off. This means 7:30 pm. This will be enforced at the aid stations listed below. Sunset is at around 7:30 pm and daylight for another half hour to 45 minutes.

You will ALL encounter SPLITS out on the COURSE/Meaning different distances will go separate directions. Please pay attention at ALL INTERSECTIONS.
Attention 32 mile 16 mile and 9 mile runners. You will encounter a CROSSING at Casa Loma Road. Please use CAUTION when crossing. You will first cross this road just before entering into the first Aid Station located in the Rancho Canada del Oro Parking lot.
Two different parks will be utilized for this race.Drop bags for the 32 miler can be left at the Start/Finish.
Attention 32 milers FIRST RUN THE 16 MILE LOOP only following the 16 mile signs and 16 mile gypsum numbers, direction arrows and Pink Ribbons . 32 milers will return to the Start/Finish
at mile 16. You may then access your drop bag. 32 mile runners will then go back out and reverse the exact same course returning back to the finish then completing your 32 mile race. Now follow 32 mile signs and 32 mile gypsum numbers.

crossing over a Wooden Bridge running North/East. Please note the Wooden Bridge is the same wooden bridge that shows me running on the front page of my WEBSITE.

Course Description
13.1 miler - 90% single track, 10% fire road. Single track beautiful trails, very technical in some sections, plenty of very runnable sections surrounded by towering redwoods and lush green ferns. Extremely mountainous long climb up to the first Aid Station located at mile 4.5. Single track trail levels off at the top, running along the Skyline Ridge Trail. You will now run onto a fire road turning LEFT running a out and back - Clockwise Loop returning to the Skyline Ridge Trail Aid Station. You will now enjoy reversing the course you ran up and fly down to the finish.
9.0 miler please refer to the 13.1 mile course description. Out and back to the first aid station located at mile 4.5. Awesome course very challenging and rewarding. Be safe running back down from your turn around at the Aid Station.
4.2 miler - 70% single track, 30% fire road you will run up a incredible single track trail same course as the 13.1 miler and 9.0 miler. At approximately mile 2.5, you will split from the other two distances turning LEFT onto another single track trail nearing your Aid Station at the end of your single track leading onto a fire road. All down hill. Have a blast. You will first have a very sharp LEFT turn ahead, then a RIGHT nearing the finish. Run safely, especially if it is wet and muddy.
Trail Briefing: The course will be marked with ribbons on clothes pins. Signs 8x11 on 3ft wooden stakes with distances and direction arrows. Gypsum, white chalk, on the ground showing direction arrows and distances.
13.1 & 9.0Mi follow Pink Ribbons and Signs. At approx. 2.5 miles you split from the 4.2 milers continue up, veer right follow Signs and Pink Ribbons. You will pass through 2 water stops before reaching your 1st aid station.
Half Marathoners after passing through your 1st aid station at Skyline
Trail you will run 1.5 miles, run through a parking lot; be prepared to turn around at paved road. Do not cross over the paved road. I will have signs posted 13.1 Turn around and a person telling you to turn around. Continue to follow signs and ribbons.
9.0 milers Out and back, follow Pink Ribbons and Signs on clothes pins. At the 1st aid station at Skyline Trail turn around and come back on the exact course following the pink ribbons down.
4.2 milers Follow a counter clockwise loop marked by Orange Ribbons and Signs. Split at approx. 2.5 miles continue to follow Orange Ribbons only and 4.2Mi Signs to Finish.

Run in the shadow of Mt. Umunhum with the deer and a few of your favorite running pals. Set in the Sierra Azul Open Space Preserve, this one of a kind running event provides unique access to gorgeous trails and scenery not commonly viewed. 100% trail/fire road. One of the toughest runs out there, this 50K challenge course has plenty of steep climbs and exposure to make sure you get a fantastic workout. The 50k course covers the entire park. You will not be disappointed.
Course: The courses are out and back along Woods Trail from the Start/Finish line at the Hicks Road intersection. See the course maps on the mileage buttons above. 50k runners when they exit Lexington County Park onto Alma Bridge Road must run only on the shoulder or dirt and must stay off the road at all times until entering Sierra Azul Park.
Aid: Four fully stocked Aid Stations .
Directions: Sierra Azul Mt. Umunhum area is located off of Hicks Road. Exit Highway 85 at Camden Ave. (From southbound 85 turn left on Camden Ave. From northbound 85 turn left on Branham Avenue and then turn left on Camden Ave.) Travel on Camden Ave. about 1.6 miles. Turn right on Hicks Road. Venture church parking lot will be on the right side of the road.
Parking:
There will be a shuttle service from the lower parking lot of Venture Christian Church
located at 16845 Hicks Road in Los Gatos (map). There is a $10 fee for the shuttle that is not covered in the entry fee for the runners. We encourage you to provide exact change for the shuttle fee.
The first shuttle leaves at 5:00 am and the last shuttle leaves at 7:15am. Please arrive early so we may start the event on time. 50K and 50 milers runners will have priority on early shuttles.
No restrooms will be available at Venture Christian Church. There will be two portable toilets at the Start/Finish. We greatly appreciate your understanding and cooperation in dealing with this event.
Pick Up/Drop Off: Although spectators and friends may pick up/drop off runners at the trailhead, spectators may not park at either Woods or Sierra Azul lot to wait for runners. Thank you!

Course is primarily single tract run in beautiful Pollock Pines. Great running, some technical sections roots, rocks, very challenging course, no big climbs or long downhills.
Directions: off of US Hwy 50, exit Sly Park Road, drive South on Sly Park Road 4.9 miles, Turn LEFT onto Mormon Emigrant Trail, drive 0.6 miles turn LEFT into Event Center, drive up road to Event Center. Pollock Pines is located ten minutes East of historic Placerville CA on US Hwy 50 about 30 minutes and 50 miles from South Lake Tahoe.

Parking: Carpooling is highly encouraged as there is limited parking available. Race central Strawberry Lodge.
Lodgings and accommodations. Location Start/Finish at Strawberry Lodge. Registration is on Saturday, July 27, 2013. Registration will either be inside the Strawberry Lodge in the back right side of the lodge or outside on the East side of the lodge. Please be very considerate to the Strawberry neighborhood & run with CAUTION on the road. The neighborhood is very low key and not much road traffic. Course in the beginning for a 1/4 of a mile Strawberry Ln is pavement until reaching 42 Mile Tract cabins. You will run on a dirt road for 100 yards turn LEFT uphill towards a cabin for 20 yards turn RIGHT onto a single track dirt trail. You will return to the finish this way.
Regarding lodging at the Strawberry Lodge, the night before the race we very much encourage anyone that would like to stay at the beautiful Strawberry Lodge to reserve rooms very early. The lodge has a limited capacity. The Strawberry Lodge, rooms, food and service is very impressive. You will enjoy your experience at the historic Strawberry Lodge. Please make sure that if you do reserve a room you will be able to receive a full refund if the event is not approved. You might be able to reserve a room without paying. Strawberry Lodge has showers available for $5 a person. Runners can get a shower before or after the run. Camping is available at the Lovers Leap Campground a few minutes from the Strawberry Lodge Start/Finish. Runners can contact the El Dorado Forest Service.
Race Day
The race will start and finish in front of Strawberry Lodge.
Bib colors:
After the event we will have food and refreshments on the lawn in the back of the Strawberry Lodge a beautiful setting. We will have a barbecue for an additional cost. Regarding the barbecue please let us know prior to the event if possible, but it is not required so that the Strawberry Lodge will have a better idea of how many people to prepare for. Families and friends are more than welcome to join in the barbecue. We would like to make a family friendly atmosphere a party. The cost for the barbecue will be paid directly to the Strawberry Lodge. Food: chicken and burgers. When registration opens up please, let us know if your interested in the barbecue so the Strawberry Lodge will be prepared. We hope a lot of runners will be interested.
Course: All of the course except for the 5k are primarily single track. You will love these courses running in our beautiful Sierra's Great country, awesome views, lakes, creeks, rivers, great air quality, high elevation, very challenging, appealing courses, lots of exposure, some shaded sections. The 50 mile, 50k and 18 mile courses will parallel the South Fork of the American River in a section of the course before and after Aid Station 2.
Parking: Parking will only be allowed in designated areas. Please do not park in front of the Strawberry lodge unless you are a guest there. Please use EXTREME CAUTION if you walk across Hwy 50.

Stay on Packsaddle Pass Road for 20 minutes. a long winding road - drive safely. You will reach the top; stay to the RIGHT, WEST. At Silverfork Road turn LEFT - up. Drive ten minutes South East go pass Silverfork campground on your RIGHT to Silverfork Trail Head on your LEFT. Attention do not cross over the bridge South Fork Of The American River. The aid station will be on the (LEFT) up a dirt road 1/4 mile. Drive or hike in. Please park on the side of the dirt road or on the side of Silverfork road. Emergency vehicles must be able to drive into these roads at all times.Directions to 11N19 & 17E12 Aid Station.

Drive time approximately 30 minutes you will very easily beat your runner - drive safely.This only pertains to the 50k runners/CREWS
There may not be any race officials at this location but we will post a sign where to park and Yellow RIBBONS will mark the course.To access this area you will drive down a dirt road one mile or so which is not well maintained mostly flat some rough sections but can be accessed by most vehicles.Leaving Silverfork Aid Station to Schnieder Camp. Continue up Silverfork Road 10 minutes to Mormon Immigrant Road/Iron Mtn Road. Turn LEFT onto Mormon Immigrant Road drive for five to ten minutes to Hwy 88. Turn LEFT onto Hwy 88 drive for fifteen to twenty minutes passing Silver Lake,Kirkwood & Caples Lake. Turn LEFT at the CAL TRANS MAINTENANCE STATION. Drive up the paved road passed the maintenance station onto the dirt road. Drive for a few minutes to Schneider Camp. Your runner will run pass you up a single track trail to the PCT trail. Turn around at the PCT trail return to where you are parked & then reverse there course.

For fabulous trail running at a Higher Level check out this event in El Dorado County. The course is 75% single track, 20% dirt road, 5% pavement. TCTRuns takes you to awesome high elevation in the Sierra where you can experience beautiful trails and spectacular views, plenty of sections for easy passing of runners. All sections very runnable, some technical, tough sections with very steep, rocky terrain. This is an extremely rewarding and challenging course. Drop Bags: The race director will be picking up drop bags the morning of the race at the start before the 50 mile/50k race starts at 6:00 am. The drop bags will be taken to Aid Station 2. He will return to the start for the 8:00 am start for the 20 mile, 10 mile and 5k races. He will give a trail briefing and take drop bags for the 20 milers to Aid Station 2 after starting the race.
Directions: Race Central is at Strawberry Lodge , Kyburz, CA and the race starts at the Lake Tahoe Winter Experience Parking lot located here. From Strawberry Lodge or Lovers Leap Campground take Highway 50 East approximately 15 minutes, 8.4 miles East from Strawberry Lodge. At Echo Summit turn right, into Adventure Mountain Snow Park parking lot. The event starts/finishes from the parking lot. Find the signs for Pacific Crest Trail, Tahoe Rim Trail. If you are coming from the "Sierra at Tahoe" ski resort, take "Sierra at Tahoe" Rd to Hwy 50, turn right continue to drive East 2.8 miles to the Adventure Mountain Snow Park aka (Lake Tahoe Winter Experience) parking lot. Find Start & Finish area. For travel on Highway 50 West, drive until reaching Echo Summit. Turn left into Adventure Mountain Snow Park aka (Lake Tahoe Winter Experience) parking lot, find the signs for Pacific Crest Trail, Tahoe Rim Trail. Event starts from the parking lot.

PLEASE WATCH OUT FOR CARS! After the campground Runners will be on PAVEMENT via Strawberry Court then Lane, and then onto 42mile tract resume on the
DIRT. Following that, on Packsaddle Pass Road, PAVEMENT again. Although there should be very very little traffic, cars
could be traveling both directions. Please run on the shoulders. Signs warning drivers "Runners
on Road" will be posted and course monitors will be present.
Attention 50 milers. There is a new aid station for your part of the course.
There is a 13 and ½ hour cut-off. This means 7:30 pm. This will be enforced at the aid stations listed below. Sunset is at around 7:30 pm and daylight for another half hour to 45 minutes.

Course Information: We will also possibly include some shorter distances. Please help spread the word about this event. This park is extremely challenging and awesome. We are very hopeful in time this event will be one of the most challenging 50 mi and 50k in the country.

Attention: this is an Event NOT A RACE. We may be allowed to time it. The park Superintendent does not allow races in the park. You may run as hard and fast as you please. Thanks for understanding.
We may allow 15hrs for this event because of the extremely challenging terrain. Runners will be required to carry lights after a certain mileage and time. We are also trying to design a course to allow runners and crews to get together along the course. Crews will have plenty of driving to follow your runner. Weather could be a big factor for this event. It could be very HOT/COLD/RAINY?WINDY but most important there are creeks in the park that can become RAGING STREAMS with a lot of rain. Course goes threw these areas: Kirkwood area to Hwy-88 to Silverfork campground to Hwy-50 to 42 mile tract to Packsaddle Pass Road to Strawberry area and returning to Kirkwood Lodge for Finish.
Points of interest and concern: Runners crossing Hwy 88 Twice. CHP for Traffic Control
Number of radio personal required 7, all Aid Stations.
The course will be marked with ribbons on clothes pens on branches, bushes and signs on a 3 ft wooden stakes driven in the ground.
Aug 24, 2012 Friday, Kirkwood Lodge upstairs greet runners: 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Pass out shirts and bib numbers and register more runners.
Rules & Regulations
Crews Please obey all speed limits and be careful driving into Aid Stations and out onto highway 88 and other roads. Thanks. We will mark the roads for crews with ribbons to Aid Stations - PINK on clothes pens.

Flashlights, headlamps, lights required starting at Aid Station 4. Cutoff time 4:20 pm
Please be considerate of cutoff times. We want you to finish but not in the dark. Glo sticks from Aid Station 2 to the Finish. Please be prepared for a very cold morning and evening, clothing drop off at any aid station.
Please be prepared for rain and thundershowers with ponchos, dry clothing. Course is extremely RADICAL with extreme elevation changes and extreme mountains. One easy creek crossing for 50 and 37 milers at Convict Meadow. Highway 88 crossing for 50 and 37 milers twice out and back near Thunder Mountain Trailhead area. Please obey CHP instructions.
Please be considerate of other people on the trail. Sunscreen and Bug spray are provided at aid stations. Do not drink any water out on the course other than at the aid stations.
Course clean up, All aid stations will be cleaned up the day of the event. The course may take a few days.

Set in Almaden Quicksilver park. Run in the beautiful hills of Almaden Valley. 60% dirt roads, 40% single track , very hilly, great views , awesome country, challenging and very fun.

Aid: Four fully stocked aid stations. Bathrooms are located at the start/finish, Hacienda Aid station (8.9 and up) and McAbee entrance (50k only).
Directions: Almaden Quicksilver County Park is located in south San Jose, in the town of New Almaden. The Mockingbird Hill entrance is accessed off Mockingbird Hill Lane. This entrance is accessible to all users, including bicyclists. You can reach the park office at (408) 268-3883.
Parking: Parking at the Mockingbird Hill parking lot. Carpooling is encouraged.

Beginning at Calero Park this trail run has everything! Experience awesome single track, great hills, dirt paths. It is a challenging, fantastic trainer for Western States that includes oak trees, exposure, good heat training, and panoramic vistas.

Directions: The park is located off McKean Road. Traveling to the park, from central San Jose, take Almaden Expressway south. Turn right onto Harry Road, then left onto McKean Road. From 101, exit on Bailey Avenue and head west until you reach McKean Road. Turn left onto McKean Road. Calero Park entrance and parking lot are on the right side 0.5 mile. Click here for a local map
